Virtual ECUs: The Secret Sauce Behind the Software Defined Vehicle

The automotive industry is undergoing unprecedented change as technological advancements enable the development of features for connected infotainment and services, ADAS and semi-autonomous systems, and advanced powertrain solutions. This change is promoting the shift from the hardware-defined vehicle with a distributed electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture to the software-defined vehicle (SDV) with a centralized domain or zonal electronic control unit (ECU) structure that is upgradable via over-the-air (OTA) updates.
